2 things stand out, 9 year old and Omosako+Koi=Kohaku??? It’s true, this koi was bred by Omosako Koi Farm. How you may ask as isn’t Omosako famous for Shiro Utsuris?

Omosako indeed is not known for Kohaku but they do breed other varieties like Showa, Gin Rin Showa, Gin Rin Shiro Utsuri, Goshiki, and Kujaku. In fact, this koi was born from Goshiki spawning that they were hoping to create oyagoi (Parent Koi) Goshiki.

Their goal was to breed 80 cm plus Goshiki, they ended up keeping this koi because of her nice quality and pattern. They were always waiting for the sumi to arrive but no sumi never developed.

She looks super young for her age which is great when you talk about her qualities and youthful appearance. This clearly is one of the positive aspects of this koi that lead to it winning Grand Champion A.
